8 Fascinating vampires from films and tv-series

Vampires are very well-known imaginative monsters who live from human blood, come to life at night and then go after their prey. Over the years these nightly killers have made various changes. Today we discuss the various vampires from some very popular films and series.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer – 1997

The series’ favorite vampire, where the starring star Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has to deal with over and over, is the vampire Spike (James Marsters). His on-and-off girlfriend is Drusilla (Juliet Landau) and both have demonic plans. However, there is a moment when the vampire with white hair seems to become more benign and even seems to get feelings for Buffy.

Angel – 1999

The title role is played by actor David Boreanaz (Bones) who plays the friendly vampire Angel. Together with his team of humans and other creatures, he tries to get rid of various unnatural demons. The series is a spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in which the character Angel has a relationship with Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) the vampire slayer.

The Vampire Diaries – 2009

In this series many vampires are featured. Very old vampires, humans who transform into vampires or make an appearance in the series in a later season. However, the series starts with the Salvatore brothers. Stefan (Paul Wesley) the benign and “vegetarian” vampire versus his bloodthirsty brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder), who both fall for the human Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev). Further in the series, other humans become vampires as well. My favourite human turned into a vampire is Caroline “blondie”, played by Candice King.

The Originals – 2013

The spin-off of The Vampire Diaries is The Originals, which focus on the oldest vampire family: the Mikaelson family. The brothers Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and their sister Rebecca (Claire Holt) are the three most important characters in the series. We got to know this family in Season 4 of the Vampire Diaries, where it was already clear that these oldest vampires are not very nice.

Interview with the Vampire – 1994

As the title says, in this film a vampire shares his life story. What does a vampire when he has the infinite life? Brad Pitt plays the 200-year-old vampire Louis who does his story with journalist Daniel Molley. His story starts from the moment Lestat (Tom Cruise) makes a vampire of him and therefore offers Louis an endless life.

Blade – 1998

Wesley Snipes plays the role of Blade, a half-vampire half human being who takes on the task of eradicating all the monstrous creatures in the world. Dressed in black with idem sunglasses and heavily gear, he goes on a nightly battle.

Twilight – 2008

The four Twilight films are based on a series of books and therefore already had a lot of fans. The vampire family that is featured in these films is the Cullen family. Vampires in these films shine like diamonds in the sun and have sworn out human blood. The family gets into trouble with the mightiest vampires when Edward (Robert Pattinson) gets a relationship with human Bella (Kristen Stewart).

Dracula Untold – 2014

This Dracula film is of course not the first film to tell the story of most famous vampire. In this film we see the creation of Dracula, when Vlad (Luke Evans) has to protect his kingdom against the Turks. Vlad goes to the extremes when he contacts Master Vampire (Charles Dance) to give him superpowers.

  1. Interesting list. I like Interview with the Vampire on it best. Also, have you seen Only Lovers Left Alive (2013), with Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska and late Anton Yelchin in it? It is also a vampire movie worth a look.
